IMPACT 44 by Concordian International School

Issue 44 of IMPACT, the magazine of Concordian International School in Bangkok, is the Back to School issue for October 2025, opening the 2025-2026 academic year as the trilingual IB World School marks its 25th anniversary since its founding in 2001. Editor Dessy Delevaux notes that the edition is slimmer than usual because IMPACT will publish four issues this year rather than three. The opening pages carry welcomes from the Founding Director Varnnee Chearavanont Ross, Head of School Laurent Goetschmann, the Thai Principal, and newly elected Board of Trustees Chair Supakkarn (Kay) Pantisoontorn.

The Flashback section revisits events from the end of the previous year and the summer. Concordian held its 11th Wen Xin Cup Chinese Writing Contest on April 1, 2025, with reflections from winning students across Grades 6 to 10. Other highlights include the Pre-K and K1 Kids Wonderland music concert (June 5 and 6), the K3 Graduation, the PYP Graduation on June 18, 2025, the One World Festival, and an Evening of Chamber Music. The summer saw the first project-based Summer School in China (June 23 to July 9) for nearly 40 students from Grades 6 to 9 in Kunming, Dali, and Lijiang, plus the Super Brand Mall internship in Shanghai for students moving from Grade 11 to 12.

In School Update, DP Coordinator Markus Mattila reports the Class of 2025 IB Diploma results: an average of 35.8, above the world average of 30.6, with four bilingual diplomas and every candidate achieving the Diploma. The Chinese University Fair 2025 on June 16 brought representatives from 27 universities, and a US Admissions Night was held on September 16. A China Scholarship Council delegation visited on June 15.
